As well all probably know we've had PlayTV(tm) on our PS3s for a while now and it can be picked up for around 40 beer tokens if you look hard enough. The 'other' console just got Sky TV for 15 quids a month, but what if i was to say, Oi NO! subscription based viewings and new hardware are alright for some but what about the man in the street, the guy who thinks the internets and TV should be free!? hey, what about him?
Well today lucky ThreeSpeech readers, as a small celebration to mark our long awaited rise to the No.1 spot in the Google search engine i can tell you that Freeview TV over the interwebs is available to you, now, today. Not a cut down version but all 40 channels of glorious standard definition TV. People, we have made the switch over.
point your PS3 browsers to http://tvcatchup.com, sign up and enjoy.

sweeeeeeeeet...if i had a PS3 *WAHHHHH SOBS*
ReplyDeleteAwesome news about the Google ranking! See what a few meta tags and a twitter feed can pull off! Nice!
ReplyDeleteTVCatchup looks interesting! How does it look on PS3? Is it as good as PlayTV? Will try out for myself sometime soon.
ReplyDelete@ reakt - if i'm honest *shuffles and looks nervously at shoes* i accidentally deleted the meta tags about a month ago while tweaking the sites overall design..
ReplyDeletehey, we still made the top slot though -w00t!- :)
the TVCU runs about 3/4 screen but you can 'spolde it with a click of R3, quality is pretty good. depends on your connection speed and traffic i expect.
felt guilty, put meta tags back in :D
ReplyDeleteI so wish there was something like this which was available in New Zealand, completely ignoring international licensing laws... All I want it instant access to Have I Got News For You. I hear the Beeb are considering an international version of iPlayer, but are considering charging up to US$10 for an episode of Top Gear. Yeah, good luck with that guys....
ReplyDeleteOh and don't know if it's different down here, but threespeech.com still comes up at the top for me.
you mean we haven't cracked the NZ market? :)
ReplyDeletethe No.1 listing is on the UK Google.
You still need to pay your TV license with this PS3 feature.
ReplyDeleteThere's no getting away from Aunty!
@ tone
ReplyDeleteThat's the weird thing, I'm using google.co.uk.
It's the top hit on google.com (USA) and even google.se (Sweden) but we are now a few places down the list on google.co.uk.
ReplyDelete@ Zed Zee - Aunty goes anywhere near my PS3 i'll break her fingers :)
ReplyDelete@ reakt - fame, a fickle mistress indeed. *clicks* weird, on my PC we're at the top spot.. maybe my google is gyped.
@tone, are you logged in to google/gmail when you check?
ReplyDeleteyeah, i'm logged in, i use google as a posting id on here.
ReplyDeletetry it when logged out.
