Seriously amazing launch titles and really looking forward to new versions of SSX and Timespliters. I'll never forget PS2 as it quite easily has the best library of games for any console, ever
ReplyDeleteTo put it V simple "timeless classic" Can't believe it's been 10 years already!
On or fairly near launch I owned:
ReplyDeleteDOA2: Hardcore
ESPN International Track and Field
FantaVision
Moto GP
NHL 2001
Ridge Racer V
Silent Scope
SSX
TimeSplitters
Tekken Tag Tournament
Street Fighter EX3
SSX & Timesplitters being the first games I bought (& the pick of all the launch titles).
Echo Roberto's statement above - what a console! The video game equivalent of a Smörgåsbord.
FantaVision
ReplyDeleteMidnight Club
SSX
Tekken Tag Tournament
TimeSplitters
yeah, PS2 was all win!
Didn't own a game at launch until Dynasty Warriors 2 came out....
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves I picked up Ridge Racer V (which disappointed for some reason, even using the JogCon), and SSX (which single-handedly justified the purchase). I already had (the superior version of) DOA2 for the Dreamcast, and Unreal Tournament (in those days) was meant for PC.
ReplyDeleteA while later I picked up Smuggler's Run, which I loved so much it's probably why I love Fuel so much this now - feels like a bit of a spiritual successor in some ways.
Anyways, you're making me feel old - and I've never played Timesplitters - so I'm going to curl up in a dark corner for a while.
@El Stefio
ReplyDeleteI prescribe 50 sessions of Bag Tag until you feel 'corrected'!
ahhhh ssx, tricky was sex on snow
ReplyDeleteI'd like SSX Tricky HD with added Penn & Teller please EA (deep voice) BIG!
ReplyDelete"They took my gold chain!!!!"
purely because of 1st person shooter overload, I call for a remake of Timesplitters to go back burner - SSX, we need NOW! NOWNONWONONWONOWNOWNOWNOWNWNNWOWNWO NOW.
ReplyDeleteRidge Racer V and SSX for me. and that is sooo agreed, SSX HD would just be aws..... ooooh... ahh... i...i need to go be on my own for a while.....
ReplyDeleteWas a big SSX fan back in the day (before it went all Tony Hawk (complete an entire run without emptying the combo meter) and lots its way a bit). Didn't have any other launch titles on PS2. When it came out I lived in Sweden and it cost a lot more money over there (plus the games were really expensive there too).
ReplyDelete@Pablo - Impressively correct spelling of Smörgåsbord. Do you know any [other] Swedish? :)
@reakt
ReplyDeletehaha, pure copy and paste mate!
Mr.Monkey (forgot blogger login)
ReplyDeleteOwn (still) Silent Scope on the Dreamcast
and owned Ready2Rumble 1&2 on DC
Was a huge SEGA nerd/Sony hater, never picked up a "devil machine "(still call it that now :) ) until the slim launched, got a copy of Devil May Cry 1 and Ico with it and realised what I was missing...
Converted me enough to buy a PSP at launch and a PS3 about a year after launch.
Still buy games for it now, trying to pick up the few last gen titles I missed or regret trading in/selling.
