and i got my new HDTV at last
32" Wide Aspect Full HD IDTV (Freeview) DVB-T Tuner 250 Pages Teletext SRS Surround Sound XT 16:9 Widescreen 2 x HDMI 2 x SCART VGA Component etc 8 Day electronic programme Resolution 1920 x 1080p Dynamic Contrast 10,000:1 Brightness: 500 cd/m Response Time: 6ms 3D Comb filter
first thing i did after pissing around setting it all up was turn off that dynamic contrast setting, i can see it being great for filums etc, but twas a bit of a distraction while gaming i found with the slightly dimming HUD when going into dark places. maybe it's just new and i'll get used to it. much much better picture than my old HD set too.
cheers, glad i went for 1080p in the end, no more flickery 1080i menus :) does have one problem though and that is it won't fully shut down, you hit 'off' on the remote, screen displays 'turning off, please wait' then just sits there like an old 486pc until you physically turn it off at the plug. i have phoned support and am waiting to hear back, typically i bought the last one in stock so can't exchange it without going without tv again :( one day of working perfect then it does that, i can never have anything new :(
Sounds like you got yourself a nice TV. Mine is only a 1080i job. I don't like 1080i so I restrict it to 720p instead. One day I'll upgrade to 1080p but prolly not for a while. Anyway, about not being able to turn it off - that's not a bug it's a feature! As in, "Sorry wifey / girlf, I can't stop gaming right now as I can't seem to turn the TV off. Better keep gaming so I don't waste the electricity!"
@ reakt - i only upgraded because the powerboard blew it's brains out on my old set, which was 1080i and like you mostly kept it at 720p as it was a more livable with display, kept getting stuck pixels etc due to the interlaced HUD during 1080i gaming.
question, this is 8PM PST, can this be accessed from UK - it there one Home worldy wide?
ReplyDeletesure many of us have american accounts, just log in from there i guess...
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, kind of reminds me why I haven't used Home for ages - after you've explored the various areas there's not much to do besides dance!
ReplyDeleteargh! Curses - once again I post from my laptop, not realising that my other half is logged in to Google!
