GT5 Info

Take this with a pinch of salt right now, but according to the guys over at GTPlanet we can look forward to some of the following features in Gran Turismo 5:

  • 1000 vehicles

  • 60 courses confirmed with 20 or more to be revealed

  • New physics system

  • Real-time collision deformation

  • Return of license tests

  • Ability to create private rooms online

  • Online photo and replay mode

  • Ability to upload replays/videos to Youtube

  • Online voice/text chat

  • GT5 Prologue museum(!)

and last but not least this little nugget:

  • movement of Cockpit Camera interface (confirmed in full 3-D. The camera can be fully manipulated and you can opt to have your head tracked by the PSEye)

Various gaming sites are also reporting that GT5 is playable at gamescom (or whatever the public event is called these days) so expect to hear loads more on this (and other game announcements) when the doors open tomorrow.

  1. Return of license tests?

    no

    dear grud no

    NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo...

they are the most pointless bloody thing ever. nobody drives like they expect you to in those tests, oh nnoes, i ran over a blade of grass, FAIL, RETRY? x1000 *sob sob sob sob*

i personally think they should give you all the licenses if you happen to own every single car in GT5:P

loving the idea of the head tracking though. sweet.

  2. Don't worry there will probably be a downloadable "upgrade" on the store 2 weeks after the game's release - "timesaver pack - get all licenses". I hate it when publishers do that (yes, EA I'm looking at you).

1,000 vehicles eh? take that XBots!

  3. @ reakt - i got all my licenses in the last one it's just i'd hoped they'd moved beyond such buzz kill inclusions. c'mon does anyone really think grinding the same bit of track 20 times because they didn't make the strict time limit fun? i tend to get jarred off pretty quickly at things like that. i'll do 'em but i won't necessarily enjoy 'em.

the Dirt2 demo is pretty good, they have included the 'rewind' function from GRiD and the in-car view still works, unlike that Super Car Challenge one, hrumph, got to level 4 offline and past my first level online, i won a race in the west coast truck -huzzah!- and held the longest jump record in morrocco, damn, that jump was seriously long i did it while testing the crash damage engine, the poor crumpled car rolled back onto it's wheels and there was a horrible silence, then brrrrum it fires up again :D i also held the longest drift too, i like them touches online, ok, so it's nothing more than virtual willy waving, but still *chuffed*

    roll on sept 11th.

downloading ALL the other demos for the PS3, really interested to see mini ninjas in action.
