  1. is this from the first game? I uploaded a couple of wicked videos to the EA servers when it came out (though they will probably look crap now).

I'll see if I can dig them out again soon.

  2. found em. First one is ok, but I'm not sure why I uploaded the second one - big staircase I guess:

  3. Dope! I really like this game. The first one doesn't play well on PS3 thanks to the crappy job EA did of porting it from the Xbox 360. I found the framerate got so crappy in places that it was unplayable and had to return it. I'm hoping that the framerate is better in Skate 2. In the meantime I've been playing Skate a fair bit since it came out around my friend's house (he's an Xbot). I really like the control system - they've done something new and different with the whole flickit thing.

One question though - have you ever managed to pull of a 360 flip or laser flip? I actually used to skate and I pulled off a few 360 flips and let me tell you it's easier in real life than via the flickit control system!

@pablo - I checked out your videos. Nice nollie, flip, manuals in the first one.

  4. yeah, it's the first Skate, funny how 'skate.REEL' is still in beta yeah :) i do like the game and the flick-it system took some adjusting too, i kept on going to hit triangle to do a grab when i first got it, damn you tony hawks! -haha- but i was sorting out my bookmarks and refound these couple of vids and figured i'd share 'em. i converted the .flv from the EA site using PSPvideo a handy convertion tool.

there is absofrackignlutley no way am i getting the new T Hawks with that stand on controller.

liked your first vid Pablo very cool.

what got me was when you had to do a challenge and the dudes like yeah go over there and do a blah blah blah blah and i'd just sit there blinking at the tv thinking WHUT? if you don't know your skater terminology you're pretty well boned i feel. had to basically look everything up :( except grinds and stuff :\

  6. @reakt

I did manage to nail the laser flip and/or 360 flip (can't remember which - they were either similar moves to pull off or one was a nollie version of the other) - only because one of the challenges in the cobbled town part of the city had some sort of challenge involving those moves - took me bloody ages to do it.

  7. Also, Skate was one of the few games where I was able to accurately model the beard I had at the time.

Tempted to get the second one, but the one thing I'm not keen on is all the Thrasher stuff (which I understand is more prevelant in the sequel); racing down a big hill whilst sat on my arse is not where the satisfaction in this game lays for me.
