Ghostbusters, worse on PS3

Ghostbusters: The Videogame developer Terminal Reality has issued a statement following suggestions that the PS3 version runs at a lower resolution to the 360's.

Despite Terminal Reality previously talking up the Infernal Engine for its proficiency on PS3, the PS3 version appears to be noticeably blurrier.

Terminal Reality has responded: "For the record, the PS3 version [of Ghostbusters] is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version."

"So you cannot directly compare a screen shot of one to the other unless you scale them properly," added the spokesperson.

"The PS3 does have less available RAM than the 360 - but we managed to squeeze 3 out of 4 textures as full size on the PS3," they told Joystiq.

Well, that's okay then. Erm... Not that i was buying it anyways.

  1. What do they want, a fuckin gold star!?

    Lead platform my arse!

    ***ahem***

Not that I am bothered about this game in the slightest, but if you can't do a job properly, don't do it at all.

I may put myself forward as the new CEO for Terminal Reality.

  3. It's like Microsoft paid them to say all that. "but we managed to squeeze 3 out of 4 textures as full size on the PS3". Wow, thanks to your hard work guys, the PS3 version is not nearly as crappy as it should have been. I bow to the superiority of the XBox with all of it's extra RAM. One question though, how come other PS3 devs manage to get awesome graphics even though they're working with the same RAM restrictions?

Terminal Reality can go "Cross the streams".

  4. @reakt

lazy-ass devs is the answer mate. It is odd that Sony went to the trouble of making this an EU exclusive.

I appreciate that not every studio has the time or money to make something as good looking as say Killzone, but surely they could tap Sony up for some tips and support.

You only have to look at how Guerilla, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch et al all mingle and offer support to each other when building engines and environments for the PS3.

I think I read somewhere that Capcom were developing a new framework to take advantage of the PS3, but that could have been a dream.

  5. Quick... what was it... cunx? Is that right... Cunx? thats it.

Terminal Reality use Quick Cunx on the PS3. We are very much sure that you did indeed do just that.

Consider yourselves served some U3S justice. Try harder next time.
