Slim PS3 on the way already?!?!

Yes, you're probably heard the rumours as well. And in response to them, Sony have denied that they're planning to launch a new slimline PS3. However, take a look at the pic below! What do you think guys? Just a mock-up to accompany the rumours? Roll on E3 that's all I can say about this. Well that and, "Please Sony, let it be true!"

    the more i look at those pictures the more i am convinced they are real, i mean, on the shot of the base you can see the mounts for those square pads sony uses to hide the fixing screws. a slimmer PS3 would make sense, especially now we have the 45nm chipsets = less power and cooling needed. plus the original PS3 was knocked up in china. also the 2 USB portholes in the case are in the same place as the later 40/80 models.

    at least the 'PS3' logo looks more like my tat' now -heh- :D

    i hope it's real, role on E3.

    ps: did Sony invite any of you guys to their press conference? i got mine the other day.

    Yes, I think that it's real as well. What convinced me was the wacky shape of the thing - it looks like a block of cheese that someone has taken a potato peeler to - slicing a notch out of the front. It's just the kind of thing that Sony would do actually - keen to make their device stand out as a console and not let it look like any other component under your TV. And look at the detail on it - too much for a mock-up. You can make out the Sony badge on the front and the little PS logo as well (although it's in white rather than the usual multicoloured job).

    No I didn't get any invitation from Sony. Sony if you're reading, you can send my invitation here! :)

    i do think we need to be careful though, we know what the chinese are like for knocking out dodgy copycat consoles/handhelds :D

    @fp - i'm going to put my money on a PS3-Slim and GT5 bundle in October sometime. would make perfect sense to me what with GT-PSP dropping and the, if i do say so, pretty damn good looking Forza3 hitting the 'other console' at that time, any delay by Sony at this point would be madness. maybe not a price drop just yet, but GT+SLIM bundle would shift a shed full of consoles. just depends how many fat and classic 3s they have left knocking around i guess.
