Uplay beta is rolling dudes

Anybody who saw the Assassin’s Creed 2 demo during E3 earlier this year probably remembers Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talking all about “confluence”, and how you’d have a separate system that rewards you for playing Ubisoft games, called UPlay. UPlay is, apparently, being rolled out along with the release of AC2.

I signed in this morning and it all looks very nice offering rewards for completing certain in-game tasks which you can then spend on downloadables or unlockable stuff. various stuff was on offer from premium themes to outfits to wear in-game. The premise is, you play a Ubi game and get certain trophies, these convert to Units, units can be spent on what you like on their site. simples?

The first big title to use the Uplay system is Assassins Creed 2.

  1. nice - have signed up to this. Don't think I'll be picking up AC2 just yet. Need to finish Operation flashpoint, inFamous and un-addict myself from MW2 first.

Sounds like a great idea though - again goes back to one of the things we were talking about over at DNA GP - achievements/trophies actually earning you something igame (or for your MS/Home avatar) other than bragging rights/digial penis length.

  3. *looks down* nothing wrong with the size of my e-penis, or maybe iPENIS as is the vogue trendz.

i think the system could go further if it's taken up by Sony, similar to the MS points system, but then again another part of me thinks we are being bribed to play games and Sony wouldn't stoop so low.

easy way to earn a few Units, sign in with your PC etc. and also sign in using your PS3.
